Is there an easy way (i.e. no drilling/gunsmith required) to mount a basic scope to an old Stevens Model 53B (Buckhorn)? (It's a basic single shot bolt action 22 rifle from the 1940s.) I noticed there are two threaded holes roughly 2 1/3" apart on the rear of the receiver. The holes themselves are just over 1/8"
The scope base mounts on the left hand side of the receiver, just above the stock, there's a dovetail cutout for the original FN49 mount. The one you've got pictured is an aftermarket S&K mount.
