You will see handles around it and in the center of it. Ctrl + C to copy it. Ctrl + V to paste it. The pasted shape will appear over the original, slightly shifted to the right and to the down.

@Daniel I made rectangles with rounded corners, also used the pen tool for other parts, and union boolean operations to merge all the shapes.
