I have driven the 2.4 on the open road, slightly less power but a very capable vehicle, not much lighter on fuel if I remember. What I do remember was thinking it was still a great motor.
Re: GD6 remapping Pull away can also be aided by opening up the exhaust to allow the turbo to spool that little bit quicker. It also helps the hot exhaust gasses to be extracted easier, something I would definitely consider when doing a remap. More power especially when really used will inevitably produce more heat.
